Raven is from our C litter, a repeat breeding of our B litter between our female, Ira, and 2000 BSP champion, Ernst vom Weinbergblick. As with our B litter, the C litter produced excellent results with regards to temperament and working ability. All 3 C litter girls are showing tremendous talent in SchH, with excellent tracking, focused and happy obedience, and serious, powerful protection work. Raven is no exception.
A large, solid black female with a sleek and athletic build, Raven has boundless drive and zest for life. She was our pick of the C litter, and is exceeding all of our expectations. Sound nerve, impeccable temperament, outstanding working ability.. she has it all. Her drive is extremely high, yet always clear headed and never hectic. Incredibly intelligent and willing, she learns amazingly fast, loves to work and puts her all into doing so.
Her tracking is intense and focused, and she shows a tireless desire for the work. She will finish any track, no matter how long or how difficult, looking for more. Her obedience is animated and quick with excellent attention to the handler and an obvious love of the work and desire to please. Only one word can describe her protection... POWER! She is that proverbial "bitch that works like a male" and new environments and new helpers don't affect her in the least. Barking is strong and serious in the blind and after the outs, her bites are full and firm, and she hits hard, plowing into the helper with confidence and determination and constantly fighting the helper throughout. She isn't out there to play a game. She shows strong aggression, loves to fight and is determined to kick the helper's butt! Every helper who's had her on a sleeve, and every schutzhund enthusiast who's had the pleasure to see her work, have all had but one thing to say: "Wow!"
Always ready and willing to work, she also knows when it is time to turn it off and settle in front of the TV for a quiet evening, a trait that is very important to us as we fell that the GSD should be a companion, not just a working dog. Raven gives 100% in everything she does and we are very excited about her future on the schutzhund field and in the whelping box.
Raven and Chris earned their SchH1 in November 2007. Their score of 95-86-94P earned High Tracking, High Obedience, High Protection, High SchH1 and High in Trial. Raven will take a short break from SchH in order in order to whelp and raise her first litter in spring 2008, and then it will be back to training for the SchH2 and SchH3.
